IBPS Clerk Selection Procedure & Exam Pattern

The selection process for IBPS Clerk XVI consists of two online competitive examinations:

  • Phase-I (Preliminary Examination): 100 Marks (English Language - 30 Qs, Numerical Ability - 35 Qs, Reasoning Ability - 35 Qs). Duration: 60 Minutes.
  • Phase-II (Main Examination): 200 Marks (General/Financial Awareness - 50 Qs, General English - 40 Qs, Reasoning Ability & Computer Aptitude - 50 Qs, Quantitative Aptitude - 50 Qs). Duration: 160 Minutes.
  • Negative Marking: 0.25 marks penalty for each wrong answer in both Preliminary and Main exams.
  • Final Selection: Merit is prepared purely on the basis of scores obtained in the Online Main Examination (No interview for clerical cadre).
How to Fill Online Application Form
  1. Candidates can apply online only through the official IBPS registration portal between 01/08/2026 and 28/08/2026.
  2. Ensure you have a valid personal Email ID and active Mobile Number, which should be kept active throughout the recruitment process.
  3. Click on 'Click here for New Registration' and enter your basic contact information to generate your Provisional Registration Number and Password.
  4. Upload scanned copy of your Passport Size Photograph (20-50 KB, 200x230 pixels, white background) and Signature (10-20 KB, black ink on white paper).
  5. Upload Left Thumb Impression (20-50 KB) and Hand Written Declaration (50-100 KB) as prescribed in notification guidelines.
  6. Fill your Basic Details, Educational Qualifications, State Selection, and Bank Preferences carefully in order of your priority.
  7. Preview the complete application form and verify all entered details before clicking 'Final Submit'.
  8. Pay the applicable examination fee through integrated online payment gateway (Debit Card/Credit Card/Net Banking/UPI).
  9. After successful transaction, take 2 printouts of the final submitted application form and e-receipt for your records.
