Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti (NVS, Ministry of Education, Govt. of India) invites online applications from eligible candidates for the Lateral Entry Selection Test (LEST) for admission into vacant seats of Class IX and Class XI in Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas (JNVs) across India for the academic session 2027-28. Online registration is free for all candidates.

Class	Eligibility Criteria (Session 2026-27)	Selection Scheme
Class IX (Lateral Entry)	Candidate must be studying in Class VIII during academic session 2026-27 in a Govt / Govt-recognized school in the same district where JNV is functioning.	2½ Hours Objective OMR Test (English, Hindi, Maths, Science - 100 Marks).
Class XI (Lateral Entry)	Candidate must be studying in Class X during academic session 2026-27 in a Govt / Govt-recognized school of the district where JNV is located.	Objective OMR Test (Mental Ability, English, Science, Social Science, Mathematics - 100 Marks).

Lateral Entry Selection Test (LEST): Pen-and-paper OMR based entrance test conducted across JNV centres.
District-Wise Merit List: Merit list prepared based on scores obtained in the selection test.
Document & Medical Verification: Verification of age, residence, category, and study certificate followed by school admission.

How to Fill Online Application Form

Visit the NVS admission portal at cbseitms.nic.in or navodaya.gov.in.
Click on the registration link for 'Class IX Lateral Entry' or 'Class XI Lateral Entry'.
Fill in State, District, Candidate Name, Mobile Number, DOB, Mother's Name, and Father's Name.
Enter details of Class VIII / Class X schooling (School name, Board, Medium, Affiliation).
Upload Candidate Photograph, Signature, Parent's Signature, and Study Certificate signed by the Headmaster.
Submit the registration form and download the confirmation registration slip.
